Exhibition of the participants in the Thrashing Workshops (2023&2024)
Participants: Gergana Ivanova, Iv Angelov, Ina Dobreva, Karina Dobreva, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Elena Chergilanova, Yoana Chushkareva, Yoana Jecheva, Yoanna Laskova, Maria Getova, Mina Kamburova, Olga Genadieva and Filip Boyadjiev
The exhibition "Nameless Street" is the result of two editions of the Thrashing* workshop, led by Radostin Sedevchev in 2023 and 2024 at the art space KO-OP. Participants worked with archival materials found at the flea market. Photographs, letters, documents, and objects were "sifted," allowing each participant to find something personal within the unfamiliar, emphasize specific elements, or reinterpret the objects from the "archival unit" in new ways. The works presented in the exhibition are the result of this collaborative workshop process and/or were inspired by the act of “reworking” the found materials.
The exhibition title references both a specific location—the meeting point from which participants headed to the flea market—and the fate of many objects found there: items that have lost their names and histories.
*from English threshing or thrashing
In English: Thrashing (also threshing) is separating the edible part of the grain from the husk and straw to which it is attached.
