If BUNA is the newest initiative in the Bulgarian contemporary visual scene, then the Institute of Contemporary Art - Sofia is one of the pioneers of the Bulgarian scene.

Founded in 1995, ICA-Sofia has been promoting Bulgarian contemporary art for more than 25 years. With numerous participations in international exhibitions and biennials as a group or as authors (Sao Paulo, Istanbul, Venice, Sydney, Documenta, Gwangju, Singapore, etc.), the Institute supports the development of the Bulgarian scene and cares for the cultivation of artists and their audience. ICA-Sofia also provides the most comprehensive archive of the contemporary visual scene from the 1990s to today.

It is part of this archive that you will be able to view at BUNA, where ICA-Sofia will present some of the latest examples of its activities. The narration will be led by Luchezar Boyadjiev - co-founder of ICA-Sofia and one of the pioneers in the modern Bulgarian scene. In addition to his extensive artistic career, he is known for his knowledge of art and his rhetorical skills, which make him a soft-spoken speaker. Within the framework of BUNA, ICA-Sofia representatives will also be the leading contemporary visual artists - Kalin Serapionov and Maria Nalbantova.
