You Know What We Did Last Christmas

ICA-Sofia

an exhibition of artists’ editions, unique works, and printed items

December 17th 2015 – January 9th 2016
Opening – December 17th, Thursday, 6 pm

Our traditional Christmas Show is presenting once again limited artists’ editions (and unique pieces too) by some of the most well-known contemporary Bulgarian authors. This year ICA-Sofia is popularizing again contemporary art in a way adapted for the Christmas-and-New Year’s holiday season – challenging as content, avant-garde as form, and accessible as pricing.

The exhibition takes place in the ICA-Sofia Gallery alongside the project “Socio-fiction” by the Czech artist Zbyněk Baladrán. Thus it will have the more-modest-than-usual format of sampling our previous editions. However, the participating artists are numerous and their “products” – closely related to their individual artistic languages, are incredibly diverse: from the self-ironical post-cards, through the useful daily life items and the amusing “gadgets”, designers’ objects, small sculptural objects, t-shirts, magnets, catalogues and other publications, all the way to paintings on canvas.

There is also “Something personal, something common (in a bundle)” (2007) – a collection of multiples made by the members (and even ex-members) of ICA-Sofia. It is made in an edition of 20+5 AP, and some bundles from the edition are in most prestigious private and public collections.

Compact, attractive, and inexpensive these objects are art works that at the same time have the qualities of a museum souvenir – to bring closer the aura of contemporary art.

During the holyday season you can “beef up” your collections, you can start building a collection, or you can just mingle with art – it does not age and it does not bore!
